Tramonti Rosso 2016

A Sammarco

The “ Costa D’Amalfi DOC “ is divided in three sub zones : Tramonti, Furore and Ravello. Of course the grapes for this wines must be grown in the area on the label. So this introduce different nuances because the regions are actually different. The Tramonti rosso is a blend of Aglianico and Piedirosso also known as “ Pier e Palumm” or Pigeon foot.Piedirosso and an ubiquitous grape in Campania ( in Campi Flegrei DOC ) in Sorrento Coast DOC as part of Gragnano blend and finally in Amalfi Coast DOC as part of all the ROSSO blends. This Tramonti blend is a dark inky purple in color wine. With a medium viscosity (13.5% abv). It is clear and filter. The color shows its youth. The nose gives away black fruits like blackberry notes, prunes and black cherry. Floral notes of roses and finally wet leaves. The palate confirm the nose with a perfect balance of aciduty, smooth tannins and alcohol . A medium high body and and medium persistence in the mouth and makes you ask for more. A perfect pair with cheeses , game and meat and with Italian red sauces may be gnocchi alla Sorrentina. Especially when it is young. Enjoy. PM 90
