2022 Mastroberardino Radici Fiano di Avellino

This is a wine from the Campania region and from his main producer Mastroberardino. We visited the producer many times through the years, especially at its resort Radici in Irpinia. The wine is made with Fiano grapes.

It exhibits a brilliant straw-yellow color with subtle greenish reflections, indicating its freshness and youthfulness. The viscosity is medium high (13.5% abv).

**Nose:**

An inviting and complex aromatic profile greets the nose. Initial scents of white blossoms and acacia mingle with vibrant notes of ripe pear, green apple, and peach. Subtle hints of citrus zest—particularly lemon and grapefruit—add brightness. Undertones of honey, toasted almonds, and a touch of flint minerality contribute depth and sophistication.

**Palate:**

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a harmonious balance between rich fruit flavors and crisp acidity. The ripe stone fruit and citrus nuances detected on the nose carry through, complemented by a refreshing minerality that reflects the volcanic soils of the region. A silky texture leads to a lingering finish accented by hints of almond and a whisper of saline.

**Acidity and Alcohol:**

The acidity is lively and well-integrated, providing structure and enhancing the wine's refreshing character. The alcohol content is moderate, contributing to a well-rounded mouthfeel without overshadowing the delicate flavors.

**Finish:**

A long, satisfying finish showcases the wine's elegant complexity, leaving persistent notes of citrus, peach, and mineral undertones on the palate.

**Overall Impression:**

Mastroberardino's Radici Fiano di Avellino 2022 is a stellar expression of the Fiano grape variety. It beautifully captures the essence of its terroir, combining aromatic complexity with finesse and balance. This wine is approachable now but also has the potential to develop further nuances with short-term cellaring.

**Food Pairing:**

An excellent companion to seafood dishes such as grilled octopus, seared scallops, and lemon-infused fish. It also pairs well with creamy pastas, white meats, and soft cheeses like burrata or fresh mozzarella.

**Aging Potential:**

Enjoyable upon release, the wine can benefit from 2-4 years of cellaring, during which it may develop additional layers of honeyed and nutty characteristics. PM 89
