2015 Etna Rosso: Gambino - Petto Dragone

Paolo Mittiga

Updated: Jan 11, 2022

This is a red wine from Sicily. From the Etna region. It’s made from a Nerello Mascalese grape. The color is a light ruby color. With medium viscosity (13.5% abv), the rim is not true to the core showing some bottle aging. The nose is very invitating with notes of cherry and red fruits, there are tertiary notes of licorice. The palate confirms the nose with a medium body and a marked acidity smooth tannins . In summary a good wine although the palate has been a little a surprise when compared with the expectations from the noses. It’s lighter so a good pairing with any white meat dish or pasta with a light and delicate sauce. PM: 89
