Lungarotti - Rubesco Vigna Monticchio 2010
This is known as one of the best Sangiovese based wines in Italy. It is from the Torgiano area in Umbria from the Monticchio vineyard in the lungarotti estate. It is a very dark garnet with purple highlights with the rim not true to the core given the few years aged.
The viscosity is medium high (14.5% abv). It is brilliant. The nose shows a wonderful bouquet with floreal notes of roses , black cherries , plums, raspberries all surrounded by a deep earthiness and leather. The vanilla background is a clear testimony of the 12 months aged in oak. The palate confirms the nose with a full body, a medium acidity and very smooth tannins. All the components are working in perfect harmony. It is a wine with an elegance and a strong structure that allows it to age for a very long time, its velvety feeling and smoothness are the characteristics of a truly great wine. Pm: 95
