Tribolanum - Alois 2012

This is a wine from the beautiful estate Alois in Pontelatone in the province of Caserta. The wine is a deep ruby in color with the rim not true to its core, showing the 7 years of age in the bottle. The viscosity is medium for a 13% abv.

It’s a wine from an ancient re-emerging grape from the region, called Casavecchia ( old house .. A legend passed on by peasants says this grape was discovered in an old ruin known as “'a casa vecchia”, the old house). The nose presents a kaleidoscope of aromas with black cherry and plum being the dominant ones, secondary notes of wet leaves which gives the wine a sense of earthiness and finally notes of licorice. The palate confirms the nose with a medium body, a perfectly balanced acidity and soft but still plenty of tannins for further aging. A medium long finish with licorice which gives a feeling of juiciness. Conclusions: An enjoyable wine not yet at its peak, with juiciness and body to enjoy with any meat dish or seasoned cheeses.
