Sulco 2016 - Cantine Crocco

This is a red wine from Basilicata from Cantine Crocco. I visited this winery in December 2018 ( see my visit blog). The wine is made from Aglianico which in the Matera appellation is not as common as its cousin in the Venosa appellation. However the wine has a deep ruby color with garnet highlights with a medium viscosity (13.5% abv) it is very fruit forward on the nose with notes of black cherry  and blackberry, secondary notes of chocolate and licorice. The palate confirm the nose with a warm and full body with well balanced acidity and smooth tannins. The persistence is medium low. In conclusion a very good value wine to be drank for daily meals made of pasta in red sauce and meat dishes or appetizer of cheeses and salami. PM:88
