2023 Cantina Li Duni Vermentino di Gallura Nou

Appellation: Vermentino di Gallura DOCG, Badesi (Gallura), Sardinia

Grape: Vermentino 100%

Vinification: Stainless steel only, no oak contact

Tasting Note

Pale gold in the glass, edged with a faint green shimmer — a color that promises energy rather than richness. The nose is direct and unfussy: citrus peel, a touch of orchard blossom, and something faintly herbal underneath, like the scent of low coastal brush after sun. There’s a whisper of salt air even before the first sip, which tracks with fruit grown so close to the water.

The palate confirms what the nose suggests. It’s taut and quick-footed, with acidity that keeps everything moving rather than lingering. A distinct savory, briny thread runs through the mid-palate — more textural than flavor-driven, giving the wine a slightly chewy, mineral grip against the fresh fruit. The finish is short-to-medium, clean, and slightly saline, closing the loop without overstaying its welcome.

This isn’t a wine built for reflection — it’s built for the table, for heat, for something eaten with your hands. Think grilled anchovies, a plate of raw clams, or simply a chilled glass on its own before dinner starts.

Drink: Now through 2025–26; this is a wine for youth, not cellaring.
