Cavalier Pepe : la loggia del Cavaliere 2013

This is a red wine from a producer We visited many times . Tenuta Cavalier Pepe. The wine is made from the Aglianico grape and it’s a TAURASI DOCG. It’s is a dark ruby with purple highlights and the rim isn’t true to the core showing some bottle aging. The viscosity is medium high (14% abv ). The nose is superb with notes of black cherries, blackberry and tertiary notes of dark licorice and tobacco … the palate confirms the nose with a perfectly balanced and soft tannins, a moderate acidity and a very long finish in a full body. In other words a truly excellent wine .. well aged and it could age much longer. Perfect pairing with grilled meat as we did, but also with any pasta dish in a meat sauce or any heavy gravy. PM 92
