Visit to the winery Deaddis in Sardinia.
A gorgeous sunset and a great visit at the winery Deaddis a beautiful and much reality a few minutes from our Resort in Sardinia. The winery Gianluigi Deaddis is nestled within the rolling hills of Nulzi a 10 mins ride from Valledoria. Surrounded by acres of beautiful vineyards with hills like Ultana that acts as sentinels of the perfect view. We were welcomed by the family who owns it. Their production hardly reaches 70000 bottles yearly.
Founded with a deep respect for the land and its historical significance, Deaddis has become a beacon of quality and authenticity in Sardinia’s wine industry.
Deaddis Winery is renowned for its dedication to producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of Nulzi. The vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with warm, sunny days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen perfectly. The soil, rich in minerals and slightly calcareous, contributes to the distinctive flavors of the wines produced here.
The winery primarily focuses on cultivating indigenous Sardinian grape varieties, such as Cannonau Bovale and Vermentino, which are known for their robust flavors and aromatic complexity. Cannonau, a grape synonymous with Sardinia, thrives in the vineyard, producing a full-bodied red wine with notes of red fruits, spices, and a hint of earthiness. Vermentino, on the other hand, yields a crisp, refreshing white wine with floral and citrusy notes, making it a perfect accompaniment to the island’s seafood cuisine. Bovale is a traditional Sardinian grape variety known for producing robust, full-bodied red wines. It thrives in the island's warm, Mediterranean climate, particularly in areas with rich, well-drained soils. Bovale wines are characterized by deep ruby color, intense aromas of dark fruits like blackberry and plum, and subtle spicy notes. The grape's thick skin contributes to its tannic structure, offering excellent aging potential. While often blended with other local varieties like Cannonau, Bovale can also stand alone, delivering wines with rich flavor, complexity, and a distinct expression of Sardinia's unique terroir. They also produce a Bordeaux like blend of Cabernet and Merlot and surprisingly this is their most appreciated wine, name after the hill Ultana due to the position of the vineyards at the foothills of the hill. It is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grapes. It is aged for 12-24 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a wine with a deep red color and garnet reflections. The aroma is complex, featuring notes of plums, blueberries, sweet spices, licorice, and chocolate. On the palate, it is rich, warm, and soft with exceptionally refined tannins and a long finish. Ultana pairs well with hearty Sardinian dishes, especially red meats and aged cheeses
Deaddis Winery's commitment to sustainable farming practices ensures that each bottle not only captures the essence of Sardinia but also preserves the environment for future generations. The winery employs traditional methods in tandem with modern techniques to craft wines that are both innovative and deeply rooted in Sardinian heritage.
Visiting Deaddis Winery offers more than just a wine tasting experience; it is a journey into the heart of Sardinia, where every sip tells a story of passion, tradition, and the unwavering connection between the land and its people.
