La Sfida - 2017 Cantine Bonifacio

Paolo Mittiga

The sfida means “ the challenge” , is made from Aglianico from the Mount Vulture in Basilicata. This grape thrives on vulcanic soil. We visited this winery in December 2018. See our notes of this visit on www.thewinevoyager.com. The wine is a dark ruby color l, it’s fined and filtered. It has a medium high viscosity (14% abv). The nose shows notes of wild cherry, blackberry and dark chocolate and spices. The palate confirms the nose with a medium high body, warm, soft tannins a well balanced acidity and a medium persistence. In conclusion a good wine and a good pairing with red meat, hard cheeses and salami or prosciutto. PM:88.
