Marisa Cuomo 2022 Costa D’Amalfi Rose

This rosé pours a luminous salmon pink, with delicate coral reflections and striking clarity. Just by looking at it, I’m reminded of the sheer light and color of the Amalfi Coast in late afternoon — it’s as if the wine itself carries the coastline’s glow.

On the nose, it opens with fresh cherry, pomegranate, and wild strawberry, followed by floral tones of violet and rose petals. With time in the glass, I pick up subtle herbal notes — hints of rosemary, thyme, and the unmistakable character of the Mediterranean maquis that lines the cliffs of Furore. A faint trace of sea breeze lingers in the background, giving the bouquet a layered, saline lift.

On the palate, it’s vibrant and mouthwatering — bright acidity, a touch of savory grip, and a persistent, almost crystalline minerality. The fruit is crisp and expressive, with flavors of red currant, cranberry, and a hint of pink grapefruit zest. There’s also a light, peppery finish that adds structure without overshadowing the wine’s elegance. Medium-bodied, fresh, and beautifully balanced, it finishes long, with that salty, maritime note I’ve come to associate with so many wines from this unique place.

My Connection to Marisa Cuomo

I’ve visited Marisa Cuomo Winery many times over the years, and every visit has left a lasting impression — not just because of the breathtaking setting, but because of the deep respect and precision with which every detail is handled. Nestled in Furore, the winery feels like it’s suspended between rock and sea, and the work that goes into cultivating vines on those steep terraces is nothing short of heroic.

I remember walking those pergola-trained vineyards, where everything is done by hand — a true labor of love. The soil is rich in limestone and dolomite, and the proximity to the sea means the grapes benefit from cooling breezes that preserve freshness and extend ripening. Visiting the cellars dug into the cliffside, I understood why the wines express such clarity and tension: this is winemaking dictated by nature, not shortcuts.

Marisa Cuomo and Andrea Ferraioli built something extraordinary here — a winery where the wines don’t just reflect the land, but elevate it.

Food Pairings I Recommend

This rosato is wonderfully versatile. I’ve enjoyed it with:

  • Tuna tartare or amberjack crudo, drizzled with local citrus

  • Linguine with cherry tomatoes and scampi — a classic Amalfi dish

  • Grilled octopus with lemon and parsley

  • Fresh goat cheese, or simply mozzarella di bufala with olive oil and basil

  • Or on its own, with just the view and the breeze

It’s a wine that carries the flavors of the coastline — bright, honest, and beautifully balanced.

Final Thoughts

The 2022 Costa d’Amalfi Rosato by Marisa Cuomo is more than just a wine to me. It’s a return to a place, to those cliffside walks, to conversations on the winery terrace, to moments of silence with the sea stretching out in front of me. It’s precise, expressive, and full of that quiet intensity that makes Marisa Cuomo’s wines so unforgettable.

If you’ve ever stood in Furore, glass in hand, watching the sun drop into the Tyrrhenian Sea, then you know: this isn’t just a rosé — it’s the Amalfi Coast in a bottle.
