MESSER OTO 2015 Cantina Santa Maria delle Grazie

This is an Aglianico del Vulture from the winery Madonna selle Grazie. It’s a winery near Venosa in Basilicata. Messer Oto is the historic fountain in the center of Horace town ( Venosa ). We visited this town and the winery in December 2018. The wine is dark ruby, it has a medium viscosity (13.5% abv). It’s clear and filtered. The nose is very intriguing with strong notes of black fruits ( black berry and black cherry) it’s is also spicy ( black pepper ). The palate confirms the nose with a medium body and smooth tannins. It has a medium persistence. In summary a good wine and good representation of Aglianico del Vulture. It has a perfect pairing with any meat dish or pasta in any meat based spice, and of course with hard cheeses. PM:88
