Rosso di Montalcino 2017 - Castello Banfi

This is a Rosso di Montalcino from one of the iconic producer in Montalcino : Castello Banfi. We visited this winery multiple times. Last time was in September 2019, this was the time we purchased this bottle. The wine is medium ruby in color with a medium high viscosity (14% abv). The nose is interesting with notes of cherries and red currants, secondary notes of tobacco. The nose is persistente and inviting. The palate confirm the nose but leaves us waiting for more, the body is medium low ( which is shelling for a 14% abv wine ) , the tannins are smooth and the acidity well balanced ; however the persistence is not there as expected. In summary a good wine may be with higher expectations, a perfect pairing with a barbecue meats ( as we tested it). PM:90
