Terra del Varo 2016 - Cavalier Pepe

This is a wine made from the Aglianico grape in the Irpinia area in the Campania region. The producer is Tenuta Cavalier Pepe, we have visited this winery multiple times through the years. This wine was purchased during the visit on 8/15/2020. The wine is a very dark ruby with purple highlights, a medium high viscosity (14% abv). The nose is very inviting and young with a Fruit forward profile of blackberries, plums and the tertiary notes of cedar. On the palate the wine is well structured and young wirh tannins that needs further softening with more aging, the acidity is medium and as a full body. In summary a good value wine for almost every day consumption with special pretenses. It can be easily paired with any meat dish. ( we paired it with a juicy steak ). PM: 89
