Vigna Giadi - Masseria Cardillo 2014

This is a red wine made with the Primitivo grape from Basilicata a southern Italian region. Primitivo is a well known grape in USA ( Zinfandel). The producer is Maseria Frattasi that we visited in December 2018 ( see blog ). The color is a dark ruby; with a medium viscosity (13% abv). The nose is very intense with notes of black fruits, black berry, black currant and a secondary notes of chocolate and tobacco. The intensity of the aromas are high. The palate confirms the nose with a medium high body a perfectly balanced acidity and smooth tannins and a medium low persistence. This is the only drawback of the wine. Is summary a very good wine that is a perfect pairing with hard cheeses as appetizer ( as we tasted ) and of course with meat sauce or any meat dish. PM: 90
