Vigna Micciano - 2013 - Penisola Sorrentina - Iovine

This is a wine from the Sorrento Coast DOC in Campania, it’s from Iovine producer that we visited in May 2017. It’s a blend of Aglianico and Piedirosso from old vineyards called Micciano. It ages in baroque for 12 months and in the bottle for at the least 4. This is a 2013 vintage and is 7 years old when we tasted in April 2020. The color is dark ruby getting into garnet .. the core it’s not true to the time showing bottle aging. The viscosity it’s high .. (15% abv). The nose it’s excellent with notes of black currants, black cherries and a secondary notes of chocolate and tobacco. The wine gained a great complexity during its aging in the bottle. The palate is truly enjoyable .. with a full body and velvety tannins and a medium high persistence. In summary the wine is excellent with the perfect body and balanced acidity and an extraordinary nose. Perfect pairing with any meat dish and pasta with heavy sauce. PM:90
