ZIGGURAT 2013 - Tenute Lunelli

This is another iconic UMBRIAN wine from the Montefalco region, known for its Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG and Montefalco Rosso DOC. 

This wine is from the Lunelli Estate from grapes local in the Montefalco area from the Castlbuono Estate. The Lunelli family controls also the Trento Ferrari wineries and sparkiling wine production.

This wine is a blend of Sangiovese (60-65%) , Sagrantino and Merlot:Cab. 

The wine is clear and filtered it is deep garnet in color and bright. The viscosity is medium indicating a medium alcohol content (13.5%). 

On the nose notes of red berries , like sour cherries and strawberries , a light note of licorice. There is some sign of oak but not too recognizible .. the wine must have aged in oak barrels for a short period or in not new oak barrels. 

The palate confirms the nose with smooth tannins and very well balanced acidity , the body is light and the finish is not very long 3-7 secs. 

It is a good wine for everyday meals from meat, white meats and pasta or even pizza.
