PIGMENTO 2008                 Conte Leopardi

This is one of the wine I purchase at the winery Conte Leopardi near Mount Conero in LE MARCHE region in Italy. ( see the blog coming soon on the region and its wines.

It is a Conero Riserva Rosso made with 100% Montepulciano. The color is ruby almost garnet with the core not true to the rim given the age ( 2008 vintage ) with a medium viscosity (14% abv). The nose catches your attention with notes of black cherries, black berries and dark chocolate. The palate confirms the nose with a full body a moderate acidity and smooth tannins a medium persistence. The wine is only made in better vintages. In conclusion a full body wine with an excellent nose and a medium long persistence, to be drank with meat dishes, game  or seasoned cheeses. PM 91
