Tramonti - 2017 - Giuseppe Apicella

The wine is a blend of Tintore and Piedirosso from the sub area of Tramonti in the Costa D’Amalfi DOC. Tintore is a grape indigenous in Tramonti. It is a clone of Aglianico grown locally. The wine has a very deep ruby color with purple highlights; characteristic of Tintore. It’s clear and filtered with a low viscosity (alcohol of 12.5% ) which it’s low for a red wine; but Tramonti has large diurnal temperature swings, which could explain the low alcohol. The nose is intense with black fruits ( blackberry and black cherry aromas ) hints of chocolate and black pepper. However the palate confirms the palate and its low alcohol with a low body , high acidity and medium high tannins. Overall a good wine to be paired with food, like a pasta dish with meat sauce or any meat dish or fatty dish where the acidity will cut through that and pair it well. PM: 88
