BARUCH 2016. Masseria Cardillo

This is a wine from the Masseria Cardillo from south Basilicata, near Matera. We visited the winery on December  2018 in Beralda. It is made from 100% Primitivo a grape in indigenous to Apulia and well known in US as Zinfandel. The color is dark ruby with purple highlights with a medium high viscosity ( 15% abv). The nose is very invitating with notes of black fruits (black cherry and black berry ) secondary notes of cedar wood and finally licorice. I can spend all day

enjoying this wine’s aromas. It is also vinified as appassimemto increasing its abv.

The palate confirms the nose with a full body wine, a silken tannins and a perfectly balanced acidity and a long persistence .  In conclusion a truly incredibly great wine, excellent pairing with any meat dish or Meat sauce or with seasoned cheeses or simply as meditation wine.
