A Scippata 2013 - Giuseppe Apicella

This is a red wine from Tramonti: one of the three sub area of the Costa Di Amalfi DOC; the other two being Ravello and Furore. I visited the winery on September 2018 ( see the blog on the visit). The wine is made from a blend of Tintore ( an indigenous grape from Tramonti ) and the ubiquitous Piedirosso. The grapes are grown from few cru vineyards with very old pre phylloxera vines of over 80 years, all trained with the ancient Pergola method. We should expect a greaT wine.

The color is a deep ruby with purple highlights, the bottle aging is shown from the trim not being true to its core. The viscosity is high (14.5% abv). The nose is so extraordinarily invitating with black cherry, black berry and notes of chocolate and black pepper.

The palate confirms the nose. With a full

Body very balanced acidity and supple tannins and a long persistence which leaves the taste in your mouth for a long time and make you ask for more.

The wine can be drank paired with any southern pasta dish or accompanied with grilled meat or seasoned cheeses. PM 92.
